In-Home Sessions Available in Dayton
Newborn family photography is one of my favorite family portrait sessions. Seeing siblings interacting and parents embracing their children makes for such warm, memorable family photography sessions.
The Koth family welcomed their newborn, Natalie Rose just last month. Big brother Levi (3) and big sister Emma (2) were so sweet and gentle with their baby sister. Natalie the newborn was SO GOOD. Slept like an angel and loves being swaddled. One of the easiest newborn I’ve ever had!
Having the newborn session at home makes it easier for mom and little ones. It was a bit of a drive for me, but paid off big in the photos. The kids were so comfortable at home, feeling more at ease somewhere familiar.
Social Distancing and Hands-Off Photography
This was my first newborn session since the outbreak of COVID-19. As such, I approached things a little differently than normal. I wore my mask and had mom, Jean, do most of the moving and swaddling. I made limited small adjustments with my hands under blankets. Never touching baby’s skin.
I also didn’t pose or touch the siblings, which was a little difficult considering the young and rambunctious ages. Despite the new adjustments while shooting, things went smoothly overall.
Outdoor Newborn Family Photography
The nice thing about shooting the Koth family at their home was being able to step outside and walk around in a safe, private environment. After capturing the intimate, comfortable moments inside the home, adding portraits taken on their private farm felt even more personal.
Newborn family photography will be an especially careful service following the outbreak of COVID-19. These moments are fleeting, so it’s important to prepare a plan of action prior to the shoot – including selecting your spaces.
For families looking to soon update their portraits whilst weary of public spaces, I highly recommend exploring outdoor options! I even have a quiz where you can find the perfect place for you to take your next portraits.
Send this family some love and leave a comment on the bottom of this blog post. If they receive 15 or more comments, they will win a free photo print!
xoxo, Ashley
