Today is Paisley’s 6th birthday!!!
The last year has been so rough on Paisley (read her full story here), so I thought I’d do a very special birthday session for her. Yes, I’m aware that I’ve been thought of as the “crazy dog lady,” and that by sharing this session, it will only strengthen that title.
I am totally okay with that! I also made her a dog friendly cake and she absolutely LOVED it! I’ll be making it for her again.
Be sure to scroll all the way to the bottom of this post to view the behind the scenes video of her session and to find the recipe for the doggie cake.
The beautiful floral collar/crown was made by Floral V Designs and it turned out just perfect!

Recipe:
This cake recipe is for one 6 in. round cake. I made two cakes and stacked them on top of each other. The “icing” recipe does not need doubled to cover both cakes.
Cake Ingredients-
(makes one of the 6 in. cakes)
- 1/2 cup natural applesauce (for less sugar)
- 1 cup flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/4 cup organic peanut butter (with no added sugar. I used crunchy peanut butter)
- 1/2 cup diced carrots
- 1 tsp vanilla
Set oven to 350 degrees. Mix all cake ingredients in a bowl. Mix until it is a cake batter consistency. Add more applesauce if it is too dry. Pour into grease 6in. x 2in. round cake pan. Bake for 20-30 min.
“Icing” Ingredients-
(covers two 6 in. cakes)
- 14 oz. Greek yogurt
- 1 tsp vanilla
Mix “icing” ingredients together. Once the cake(s) have cooled spread icing on top.
Your dog will love it!
I just LOVE that Paisley got her own birthday shoot & such a gorgeous floral collar ❤️

Oh my goodness, I can’t handle this! SO CUTE!
