Encaustic Photography, Dayton Ohio
One of my 2019 goals was to learn something new. I didn’t really know what that would be, until I discovered the beautiful art of encaustic photography.
The art of wax, or “encaustic” photography, is a technique that uses melted beeswax and resin to create an artistic photographic piece. Encaustic, meaning “to burn in or fuse,” is an ancient painting medium first practiced by Greek & Egyptian artists as far back as the 5th century B.C. Now that I’ve learned this artful process, I can’t get enough of it! So I decide to share the love and offer a workshop on Sunday, May 5th, 2019 from 2-4pm at my downtown Dayton, Ohio studio.
This workshop is for beginners and will teach you this ancient technique of fusing layers of beeswax & resin on a photograph mounted on wood. This process will preserve the image & create a luminous dreamy effect, that’s oh so lovely!
