Dayton’s Beloved Hippie Town
Yellow Springs, Ohio has everything you could want from a hippie town: hiking trails, can’t-find-it-anywhere-else boutiques, and local eats. Yellow Springs engagement sessions always reflect this eclectic vibe.
For their complimentary engagement session, Kirstin and Tyler selected it as the backdrop for their portraits. Engagement sessions are a great way for me to connect with my couples before their big day. I used to not include this in my full wedding package. However, building a connection with my clients is very important.
Kirstin loves the color yellow, and she spotted the cool yellow brick building that we took a few photos in front of.
Downtown Yellow Springs Engagement Portraits
I suggested we go to the Corner Cone so they could get some ice cream. I think it added a little extra fun to their session! Yellow Springs is only a short drive from my house, so I’m quite familiar with the area.
There are so many great places to take photos in the town, which is full of color, texture, and nature. Even the shops themselves make a perfect backdrop for a candid photo.
Late Summer Engagement Session
Capturing these photos at the beginning of September meant we got the best of Ohio’s dwindling summer. Photographing in natural light can be tricky, but fortunately, we landed a perfect day. The sunny skies and vibrant botanicals really made the photos pop. We even found some black-eyed Susans to capture a ring shot.
Kirstin also loves Yellow Springs and has spent a lot of time there over the years. She suggested a few spots to take photos that were sentimental to her which made the intimate moments of the portraits that much better.
I especially loved the photos we took under bistro lights. The urban setting mixed with all the surrounding nature makes Yellow Springs such a fun and unique portrait location. Just like the town itself.
Kirstin and Tyler will be getting married next Spring in Germantown at Shey Mill Inn & Event Center. Help these sweethearts celebrate early. If they receive 15 or more comments, they will win a free photo print!
