Dayton Family Portrait Photography
Family photography has a magical way of warming up your home and boosting confidence in children. As you may know, I am passionate about incorporating family portraits into the home. As a family photographer and mother, I know how special these sessions are for what they can become.
The Situ Family and I first connected through my website and quickly learned we were a great match.
Daughter Adeline was a little slow to warm up to me… it was probably the mask. But by the middle of the session, she was trying to hand me flowers and by the end, she was cracking up and smiling away! Handling kids can be challenging during photo sessions, but fortunately, I have plenty of tips to share.
I love the mother-son photos we got, but perhaps I’m just partial.
Family Portraits Photography Locations
Cox Arboretum is one of my favorite places to photograph family sessions. The Situ Family and I met for a late summer session at the MetroPark. Cox Arboretum creates such a beautiful setting for family portraits full of blossoming flowers and hints of the changing seasons. Throughout the greater Dayton-area we have lots of outdoor locations that can accommodate family groups of all sizes.
Being outdoors is a great way to incorporate lots of movement and playfulness into your photos. Adeline and her brother, Aiden were able to walk the grounds, explore some nature. I love studio settings too, but there’s something special about capturing children simply being children in the great outdoors.
Sometimes I’ll ask the kids during a family photography session to make silly faces for a couple photos. I find this helps them to have fun and feel more comfortable.
Freezing Moments into Memories
Originally they were planning on scheduling a family portrait before John’s deployment to the middle east later this year. However, his departure date has been moved up. We were thankfully able to squeeze in a session before he left. Military families have my heart; they sacrifice so much for all of us.
While John is away, I know these photos will become even more special to Chablis and their children. It’s such an honor to become a part of this family’s most intimate moments.
Send this family some love and leave a comment on the bottom of this blog post. If they receive 15 or more comments, they will win a free photo print!
