Wegerzyn Gardens Family Portraits

One of my favorite times of the year to take family portraits is late summer. At Wegerzyn Gardens, family portraits are brought to life. Surrounded by stunning gardens and abundant botanicals, clients can relax and move around freely. Kiddos love to explore the gardens at Wegerzyn, too.

An Artistic Take on Family Portraits

Chuck, Caitlin, and their three children joined me for their Wegerzyn Gardens family portraits for our first session together. After doing some research on Google, Mom reached out to schedule their portrait session.

When this client first reached out to me she explained that “photos are like art to us”. They wanted to add some light and bright family photography to their walls. In the past they had darker and moodier photos done. The family wanted to add some updated images and also variations to their family photo display. I’m someone who loves to hang family photos in the home. I was thrilled to work with such a creative client!

Outdoor Family Photography Sessions

For clients like these who want a brighter, airy look, outdoor sessions provide the best setting. The weather can be unpredictable, but generally speaking, the later afternoon in summer and fall makes for some of the prettiest family portraits. During the winter and spring, my clients book more studio sessions.

Since there are no limitations on space, Wegerzyn can accompany almost any size group. Best of all, you can even bring your furry family members if you’d like (say what??). Cox Arboretum is another great option.

Special Moments With Each Child

The kids — aged four to nine — all got along great and loved being silly at the end of the session.

Since the client booked a full session, we had plenty of time to capture not only group shots. I always try to get individual photos of each child with each parent, too. I think a lot of clients don’t think of getting these shots. Generally, we plan more for the group shots especially when you consider wardrobe and poses. But I think the kids will be thankful they have these photos when they are older.

Send this family some love and leave a comment at the bottom of this blog post. If they receive 15 or more comments, they will win a free photo print!

xoxo, Ashley
