Kyle and Leah have been clients of mine for many years. A few years back, I photographed their wedding at The Ohio Barn in Fairborn. This charming, rustic venue has sprawling lawns lined with botanical life. It’s a stunning location for weddings but that’s not all. The Ohio Barn is a great destination for family photos, too.

Memories at The Ohio Barn in Fairborn
The photograph you see below is more than just a pretty shot under an arch. This was the same location that Leah and Kyle were married. In this photo, we captured a loving embrace in the exact spot they said “I do”.
Many of my clients come to me year after year, having me take their portraits through each stage of their lives. It’s common that clients who see me first for their engagement sessions eventually return with their children and pets. Retracing steps together at a place filled with fond memories like those Leah and Kyle share at The Ohio Barn is such a heartwarming experience. Bringing their son Isaac made the photoshoot a more personal experience. These intimate moments make for the best photos.
A Sunset Session in Fairborn, Ohio
My session with the Liddy Family was back in October of 2020. The sun was shining which created some of the prettiest, light-and-airy images. The way the sun illuminated little Issac’s blonde curls was so adorable!
As a natural light photographer, you cannot ask for much more than a beautiful sunset for family sessions. I prefer a final product that’s more whimsical and bright, and on this day we had perfect sunlight.
Playful Family Portraits at The Ohio Barn
Another detail I loved about The Liddy Family’s session was their coordinated style. Mom wore a cowl-neck dress in a lovely deep wine hue, perfect for fall. Dad matched with a plaid button-down, and their son had a light tan sweater. Even with various colors, patterns, and textures, they looked so great together!
Sometimes my clients aren’t quite sure what to wear for their portraits, after all not every family wants a matchy-matchy look. If you’re in the same boat, check out my styling guide. I have plenty of tips to share.
Show The Liddy Family some love in the comments. If they receive more than 15 comments, I’ll gift them a print!
